I did 4 rounds of Clomid. I got a BFP on my 2nd round but unfortunately M/C'd at 5 weeks. Clomid did make me ovulate, but unfortunately it made my lining very thin. So thin that my Dr. said that a fertilized egg wouldn't be able to implant.
I am on my first round of Femara, and I am SO happy. I am at cd 12 and have a 20mm follie and my lining is nice and thick.
I am very hopeful about my chances with Femara. However, my dr. said that it just depends on the woman. Some women have better luck with Clomid.
My observation is that most dr.'s try clomid first and if that doesn't work they move to Femara. I'm not sure why that is, but if I had to speculate I would guess it is because Clomid has a better proven track record. That is not to say that it is better than Femara, just that it has been used more and dr's know more about it.
If I were you I would pay close attention to the thickness of your lining on Clomid and the length it takes to get a viable follie. If in the first couple of rounds it doesn't look hopeful I would have a discussion about switching to Femara. Why waste any more time than you have to.
I hope that Clomid is the drug for you and you get your BFP real soon.

Hello Dr. Rassman,
Im hoping against hope that you have any suggestions for me. Im 45, and I was diagnosed with stage 2 ER+ breast cancer 2 1/2 years ago. 21 months ago (after bi-lat mastectomy, chemo, rads, and a complete preventative hysterectomy) my oncologist started me on Femara, an aromatase inhibitor.
My hair grew back thick and full and normal after chemo and for 16 months after I started taking the femara then suddenly 4months ago, its been falling out in massive amounts. Mostly in the front and crown. Im at a loss as I know the femara is removing all estrogen from my body and many of the hair loss drugs out there can mess with the work of the femara. Ive started on Rogaine, but Im not holding out much hope for that. Are there any other treatments that are safe for me? Im desperate. Thanks so much.
